Synopsis:
Yoshizawa Wakaba’s childhood friend, Umezono Komaki, embodied the concept of “perfection.”
She was well-mannered, intelligent, and excelled in athletics. At least, that was the impression she gave on the surface. In reality, Komaki harbored a nasty personality and frequently looked down on others.
One day, Wakaba and Komaki engage in a competition where their dignity is at stake. Following a defeat, Wakaba has her first kiss taken from her.
In an attempt to reclaim her dignity, Wakaba agrees to a rematch. Winning means regaining her dignity, but losing entails having the things she holds dear gradually stripped away.
As Wakaba loses these meaningful first experiences one by one, she begins to realize that “hatred” is not the only thing she feels about Komaki.
Please note: At the time of posting this (chapter one), not even I have any clue how the story plays out. I am quite literally reading the story as I go along. I am ONLY translating the web novel! The web novel ends on chapter 33, and features an epilogue after it. As of right now, I do NOT know what the light novel is like (it released on December 1st, 2023, which, for future records, is the same day as when this post is released!).
This is mainly a side project I’m picking up alongside ShuuKura, which probably sounds ridiculous considering I’m nowhere near close to being caught up on that series, but hey, why not welcome a change of pace every now and then? Plus, this one has a clear end, so it shouldn’t be too bad. Surely.
Unlike ShuuKura, the chapters for this work do not have titles. You can also find the original web novel published here (you will be taken to Kakuyomu).

I would like to stress that the translations being hosted here are for the web novel only.
This work is currently NOT licensed for an English release, so the links I’m providing below are in Japanese only. For digital releases, I personally prefer cmoa.jp over Amazon because it supports my foreign (i.e. not Japanese) payment method and does not require a VPN. The downside is that the entire site is written in Japanese.
